Obligated dollars

Federal share calculator

Enter the obligated dollars from an OpenFEMA Project Worksheet and a federal cost-share percent. The split is for planning conversations with the applicant — not a bid, not an award.

Federal share
$1,875,000
Non-federal remainder
$625,000
Worksheet total used
$2,500,000

This split is educational. It is not a bid, award, or confirmation that the applicant will procure the remainder locally. Typical PA cost share is 75 percent federal; some declarations use 90 or 100.

Questions

Is the federal share the same as a contract award?
No. An obligation reserves federal Public Assistance dollars for an applicant. The city, county, tribe, or PNP still procures the work under its own rules. This calculator only splits the obligated amount.
Why is 75 percent the default?
Most Public Assistance declarations use a 75 percent federal / 25 percent non-federal cost share. Some large events use 90 or 100 percent federal. Enter the share published for that disaster.
Does RebuildAlert email this split?
The digest emails the federal share obligated from OpenFEMA, plus project, category, county, disaster, and the applicant mailing address. It does not invent a local match figure.
